- Client and trainer begin laying the groundwork for making diet modifications that will increase energy levels while building lean muscle mass and loosing body fat.
- Body fat percentage and total body weight are examined and recorded for future comparisons.
- Conversation regarding successful and unsuccessful previous attempts at living a healthier lifestyle.
- Set the first fitness goal. It will be both difficult and attainable.
- ROM (range-of-motion) is assessed while evaluating joint strength and weakness. Special attention is paid to previous injury areas.
- The client begins learning how to perform exercises that contract each primary muscle group synergistically.
- The first abdominal and core exercises are instructed. From this point on, the client is expected to perform these exercises on their own in between sessions with their trainer.
- Cardiovascular intensity is prescribed to the client based on previously decided goals.
- At this time the trainer is still teaching new exercise technique, however there is an increase in strength testing that will be used for the eventual design of the training program.
- By this time the trainer will have a custom designed training program for the client that will include abdominal, cardiovascular, and strength workouts.
- The program is presented in a packet that covers a time of 16 weeks. Each workout is described in detail while indicating total number of exercises, sets, reps, and weight.
- No two workouts are repeated during the entire 16 week program.
- Exercise diagrams are provided with training program for easy adherence by the client when they are performing their workouts without the one-on-one guidance of their trainer.
- At this time the trainer and client need to decide the training session frequency beyond their first package of sessions.
- The client is expected to start performing entire workouts in between training sessions with their trainer.
- All clients have unique goals, therefore the forward direction from this point is different for each person.
